HUMMING BIRDS Jan Slezak Custom Knife

This very photographed knife has appeared in most knife magazines as well as several times in the annually published KNIVES. Here you see a pair of carved humming birds with inlayed gold eyes in hovering position, drawing nectar from the flowers. The carving took several months to produce, and Slezak said that it would be a long time before he tackles another subject this complex. It won “Best Art Knife” at The Knifemakers’ Guild Show in 2004.
